I loved every part of the game up until the Meat Circus; but eventually I uninstalled the game and watched the ending on youtube rather that subjecting myself to that timed platform jumping hell. I have not hated a level in that way since the time of 16-bit systems.
Upsetting as it was, this sequence and Sasha Nein's memory vaults added layers of depth to what would otherwise have been cool, but cliched characters.
Actually, I think most people would have agreed that Brutal Legend was really good had we all actually been TOLD in advance what the game was going to be like instead of being led down the route of action/adventure platformer, Zelda-ish stuff only to have the rug yanked out at the last minute.
This is the part of the game I describe when I try to convince someone how great this game is. Hey Russell. It makes good on the promise of the concept: a psycho-platformer.
