I wish I had more, but really all I can say is goddamn this movie is brilliant.

Syd Midnight - 2010-03-06

As someone pointed out on P_N, the secret is to have the actors play actors doing blaxploitation, not just parody blaxploitation. That allows it to be good.

badideasinaction - 2010-03-06

Hell, that was the secret for Airplane! and the whole parody genre before it fell into a vortex of suck.

Riskbreaker - 2010-03-06

Yes, basically, a "parody" these days is just the actors winking at the camera over and over. Reminding you that, yes, it's a parody! It's not serious at all!

boner - 2010-03-06

The actors have to be dudes playing a dude disguised as another dude.

BHWW - 2010-03-06

The M.O. in modern "parody" seems to consist of the preformers on screen loudly explaining the joke, as a hypothetical say, an impersonator playing Paris Hilton walks on screen and one of the main players will loudly say "LOOK IT'S PARIS HILTON!"

unknown rebel - 2010-03-06

IT'S NOT RACIST BECAUSE THE CAMERA WAS OUT OF FOCUS

what

splatterbabble - 2010-03-06

I used to live down the street from a video store that had a section called "Nunsploitation". Just saying.

revdrew - 2010-03-06

You lived in a cool neighborhood, splatterbabble.

BHWW - 2010-03-06

They managed to replicate the camerawork and production values in such a way that it's funny without being overbearing or constantly in your face.

unknown rebel - 2010-03-06

I saw this last night, and thought I could have written a better movie myself. It's basically a flawed exploitation movie that uses poor production values to pass itself off as ironic - if they had balls they could have made an awesome movie without hiding behind "irony."

Ursa_minor - 2010-03-06

Shut up fuckface.

Camonk - 2010-03-06

Jesus you really are a fuckface. Definitely shut up.

unknown rebel - 2010-03-06

Pft. At least Jackie Brown unashamedly has black exploitation era characters.

Being a fuckface, gentlemen, beats using the same three tropes a million times.

HankFinch - 2010-03-06

It's not "hiding" and its not "irony"

Camonk - 2010-05-28

Jackie Brown is in the top five worst, most boring movies every.

You are so stupid that your opinions are the empirical definition of wrong. You stupid fat cunt.

fatatty - 2010-03-06

I dunno about fuckface but probably idiot. I don't know anyone who has said they could write/direct a better movie has actually been right. How many movies have you written? How many blacks have you exploited?

This movie is the shit. No one can write it better.

unknown rebel - 2010-03-06

I can take that. But I reckon a rewrite by a competent writer could tighten it up enough to be not that bad.

facek - 2010-03-06

The Writing seems to be more competent than your family, your friends, your educators and anyone else responsible for making you who you are.

Michael Houser - 2010-03-06

On the DVD commentary, they explain that there was a lot of extra footage they took out, and that footage was basically all the plot exposition. That is why this film transcends.
This film is right up there with 'Garth Merenghi's Dark Place' as a tribute so awesome that the average jerk wouldn't even be able to tell the difference between it and the source inspiration.

Mister Yuck - 2010-11-12

That's actually the reason I couldn't get through this movie. It so perfectly mimicked blaxploitation that I got the urge to watch "Coffy" again in the first five minutes. After ten, I actually did.

This segment is still great though.
