But, honestly, if she wanted this to be a fun learning experience for the viewer, she could have done this in a room where there weren't 3-5 other birds that won't shut the hell up.
Having worked in a pet store, though, I know that bird people have a tendency to be completely insane. It's entirely possible that there is no other room, and that she is living in a studio apartment with 5+ birds and maybe two doors total.

The problem here is that the "First, place your new budgie on the skateboard" step requires a couple years a relatively bright parakeet, and a stupid or nervous one will never get past it.
I love parakeets. I had two when i was a kid, at different times. the blue one died and we got a green one. my fondest memory of the green one, Chipper, was with our dog. Our dog Misty used to get treats and we asked her if she wanted a treat every time we gave her a treat. One day i pointed to chipper in his cage and said "Misty, tweet! Misty, look a tweet!" Poor chipper practically shat himself when the dog came running up to his cage barking and salivating. I miss that bird.
