In my teens I got to meet Greg Johnson, creator of this and my all time favorite PC game, Starflight. It was like meeting an A-list celebrity without the thetans.

i never played that game, although wikipedia tells me two fan-made sequels are in production right now - one of them was released last year

I'm aware of a fan made Starflight 3 which has been in perpetual development since the Tertiary period and will likely never see the light of day but I'm not aware of the other one you mentioned.

this was the best 2 player game ever, leading to many moments of awesome teamwork and epic griefing. stealing presents from each other, purposely "sharing" the negative presents, waking up monsters next to your teammate. extreme ownage.
