I really, really wanted to fall in love with this game, but I can't. I mean, it's all the rage on the tubes these days, and since this weekend it's been free(ish until they fix it).

I just get frustrated so quickly and I can't do anything except make some dirt.

Stick with it. It's amazing. Watch some tuts and read the wiki if you're having trouble getting started. I never build anything ridiculous, just wander around exploring caves and getting killed by skeletons.

The problem with the game is how much work is involved. For some people, they don't care, but I dunno...I hate playing catch 22 with a game just to make progress and the game is just one big crafting system that puts just about any grindy, annoying, boring, timesink crafting systems in any MMO to utter shame. The concept at the atmosphere is cool, but I think if there were a way simpler mode to the game it would be really great because the engine is perfect for a cool, randomly generating mining type game along the lines of Miner Dig Deep or any of those type of "find gems and upgrade equipment" type games. The exploration parts are fascinating, but it should be easier to get into, I think. Someone should spend time developing a side-mode mostly about that sort of thing rather than the crafting building stuff.
