I would have thought Japanese garbage would have been folded neatly into animals or have giant cartoonish faces on the bags.

I'm pretty sure I submitted this video a month ago and it didn't make it through the hopper for some reason. Weird. Oh well. It's still pretty neat.

Of course it's not a panacea but apparently it does get more energy out than what is needed for the conversion process, and it helps to take care of a huge source of solid waste. I wonder if it can scale up to the sizes necessary to support any modern city's waste processing infrastructure, though.

Burning the plastic in well designed incinerators for electricity is probably a better idea.

You all do know that plastics still come from the same source as oil, right? Breaking apart long hydrocarbon chains into shorter ones isn't new.

Now, if you are thinking of it as a method to dispose of plastics, that's a bit different.

I have become so cynical that the slow, emotionally image laden introduction already has me believing this whole thing is lies. Of course, I also think Nanosolar is an Enron style scam, so I'm pretty energy stupid. After watching it, I have to say, this looks like a great way to condense plastic garbage, and if a percentage is usable again that's bonus.

Just shoot it into space ffs.
