I only would have accepted this if the professor had been older. Old and brilliant professors have gained the right to be jerks.

SorenB - 2010-11-18

yawn...

simon666 - 2010-11-18

I'M NOT BORING! I'M NOT BORING LIKE YOUR YAWNING SUGGESTS! DAMN IT I'M A GOOD FUCKING TEACHER!

Bootymarch - 2010-11-18

What a fucking asshole. Overboard, much?

mouser - 2010-11-18

Fuck them kilobytes!

ADnova - 2010-11-18

I had a scent-sensitive prof in University.
One day he yelled at us because he smelled some cologne. Then he walked around the class sniffing everyone to find out who was wearing it. Then he left.

Lurchi - 2010-11-18

Hotel Administration!

Jet Bin Fever - 2010-11-18

Cornell's cost of attendance is around ,000. Money well spent.

kingarthur - 2010-11-18

They';re paying for the brand name, the connections, the finishing school aspect of it all and the smug sense of superiority that comes with it.

Scrotum H. Vainglorious - 2010-11-18

Watching some free lectures online from top tier universities pretty much confirms that. There's no difference except the cost of the podium compared to a state college or even a junior college.

Konversekid - 2010-11-18

And the only thing that effectively ensures that their graduates are more capable than those of other universities, is the fact that they have to prove the worth of their intellect, work ethics, and bank accounts to initially get in.

Baldr - 2010-11-18

Paul Graham runs a group that offers funding for the very first stage of startup companies. He's mentioned that he can't find any correlation between the success of a startup company, and where the founders went to college.

simon666 - 2010-11-18

Scrotum, there is definitely a difference in education between junior colleges and universities, at least in California. The junior colleges here are great and the faculty are well qualified, don't get me wrong. At university you just learn/have access to a whole lot more information.

Jellyneck - 2010-11-20

I'm not sure what is better, your need to justify your education, or the fact that you are addressing someone called Scrotum while doing so.

Xenocide - 2010-11-18

A lot of empty seats in that room. And over a quarter million views since this was posted two weeks ago.

Congrats, you prick, you're more popular as an internet douchebag than you will ever be as a professor.

chumbucket - 2010-11-18

and likely earned tenure

Xenocide - 2010-11-18

He looks rather young to be getting tenure. But maybe Cornell is desperate for kilobyte experts.

Rudy - 2010-11-18

You better not mess with him, people - he's pretty fucking pleasant.

SorenB - 2010-11-18

kilobyte..... is this a Computer science class for derps?

StanleyPain - 2010-11-18

Even his outbursts are boring. Pick up the pace, you overpaid fuck.
Yes, tell me more about KEELOWBITES

Xiphias - 2010-11-18

Judging the way that everyone looked over at the yawner I am assuming this was a comically over-loud yawn intended to express disgust with the professor. That makes the "outburst" a little more reasonable.

memedumpster - 2010-11-18

Everyone should have walked out. What a fucking baby.

delicatessen - 2010-11-18

yawner should have stood up and said "do you know who i am?"

Prof: "No."

"Good." And yawner runs away.

Xenocide - 2010-11-18

But say it in a faux-British accent, as if you were a titled lord outraged at this commoner's indignence.

Be sure to prepare a false name with no more than six hyphens.

Rape Van Winkle - 2010-11-18

Teacher should be embarrassed.

IrishWhiskey - 2010-11-18

"If I hear one more of these overly long yawns, GET UP AND WALK OUTSIDE!"
Because clearly I have no ability to stop you! So I probably shouldn't have started that sentence as if it was a threat!

I'm sure that is the most valuable class he's ever taught. Students were taught by example that when authority tries to get people to turn on each other, simply refusing leaves it impotent. And that being in the seat of power gives someone no more reason, maturity or actual control over you than anyone else.

La Loco - 2010-11-18

5 for you.

Rape Van Winkle - 2010-11-19

yup

Jellyneck - 2010-11-20

Except for the part where someone pointed to where it was coming from, and he charged over there like a bulldog. I'm pretty sure whoever yawned got a little bit scared right there.

Knuckles - 2010-11-18

According to youtube comments, the students are planning a "yawn in" for tomorrow. I really hope someone records it.

Zarathustra00 - 2010-11-18

Maybe I'm wrong, but this guy also strikes me as the type to make attendance to his class mandatory and enforce the rule with pop quizzes, sign in sheets, and other middle school like methods.

I also second the feeling that this outburst just destroyed any authority the professor had and is an open invitation to spectacular trolling the rest of the semester (read: I look forward to future installments of The Professor who Yells vs. Overly Loud Yawner)

stage - 2010-11-18

I was hoping everyone would start standing up and saying "I yawned!" "No, I yawned!" Spartacus-style.

That guy - 2015-03-10

^ this

That guy - 2015-03-10

Ah.... priceless.

No college teacher or TA should ever go into High School mode.

Any number of things could or should happen, but not this bullshit.
