There need to be more courageous octogenarians.
Good for her.

Now get out there and kick some ass, granny!

This went the polar opposite direction of where I thought it was going to go.
Thanks for not making me angry today.
Congratulations on recognizing your own bias.
White men actually can jump, I know that. C'mon.

Brings up a better idea of unconditional love instead of "unless you are gay or want to go to art school"

My grandparents, who were born 20 years earlier, had trouble even accepting my sister's mixed-race marriage, even though my brother-in-law was himself the product of a mixed-race marriage.
I never did ask either of them how they felt about gay marriage before they died. I know that my grandmother was completely oblivious to the existence of lesbians entirely (for example, the committed lesbian couple down the street from her were just friends and it was "so sad that they don't get paid enough that they can afford to live in their own homes").

This, along with the video of the son of two women, makes me incredibly proud to be a native Iowan. I love living here.
Also, I have family in Clinton. I might be related to this woman.

Before looking at the comments or video, I'm going to expect a pleasant suprise.

Don't get me wrong, this is awesome. But do you think she would be this open-minded if she didn't have a gay son?
Well her entire story is about how having a gay son made her overcome her prejudices and realize homosexuality is ok.
...so its almost like she's implying that having a gay son made her become this open-minded.
And then she asks people to imagine the possibility that their kids might be gay and ask themselves whether they love their kids more than they hate homosexuality.
So maybe you didn't actually listen to her?
I deserved that, Xiphias.

Dude at the end was sounded so gay.
Funny, I thought the exact same thing.
