landlubber - 2011-03-04 I don't like the idea of police sending videos of drunks doing embarrassing things to news outlets. If the guy were a hypocrite because he publicly lambasted homosexuals, that'd be one thing. Somehow, I don't think he's in the closet.
Yet, this does remind me how glad I am that video cameras weren't so omnipresent back in my day. Three stars for police still being assholes.

cognitivedissonance - 2011-03-05 Byzantine Rite is still within the Catholic communion but is allowed it's owned liturgical privileges and slightly different hierarchy. Also, it's a one way transfer. Catholics are allowed to attend Byzantine services and partake, Byzantines are not allowed to attend Catholic services and partake. If you are a Catholic and want to become a Byzantine, you have to go through whole new catechesis, but if you're a Byzantine and want to become a Catholic, you can laterally transfer.
When I was looking around for churches to convert to, I discovered the similar arrangement with the Baptists, Presbyterians and Methodists, whose baptisms are valid within the Catholic church, but that the Mormons, Jehovah's Witnesses, Unitarians and Pentecostals are not considered valid and would have to be baptized a second time.
I am now just attending an Episcopalian church because they don't seem to care about this shit half as much.
