My favorite comics are often fueled by anger, even when they have a light tone.

From the way I split my sides laughing, I'm guessing some of that annoyance manifested at the press conference found itself into the writer's room for these jokes.

No stars, because no matter how funny they may be, the world is too fucked up a place for a group of people that want to kill all povs and a group of people that tell us they don't want to kill all the povs but then turn around and do absolutely nothing to prove this to sit around, having a nice chummy dinner together, and nobody being guillotined for it.

5 stars, because this is funny, and the world is too fucked up a place for a group of people who avoid making egregious run-on sentences and another group of people who say they want to avoid making egregious run-on sentences but then turn around and do it to not sit down and share a nice dinner during the time it takes to read this crap.

I'll give three stars because I see value in both sides. Also, this wasn't that funny.

Every day powerful lobbyists and media manipulators meet with elected officials and each other to engage in undemocratic work without oversight or accountability. Taking that out on a public roasting of the President and media seems counter-productive to me.

And while this doesn't happen every year, Colbert, Sykes and others have used this opportunity to speak truth to power in effective ways not otherwise seen in the media. Seth Myers may not have been as controversial, but he still called the President a disappointment, the media self-involved sycophants, and the Tea Party racist.

I see value in all sides, except the notion this wasn't funny. Did you, or did you not, see Optimus Prime, and an increasingly miserable and sullen Donald Trump?

Vaidency for the presidency!

The Mothership - 2011-05-01

This was indeed funny. He did not kill, and there were some weak points, but I still lost it at the birth video and the Trump skewering.

Cena_mark - 2011-05-01

Holy shit! Did he just use Hulk Hogan's entrance music?

citrusmirakel - 2011-05-01

Psssst: White House Correspondents' Dinner.
(not correspondence)

simon666 - 2011-05-01

oops.

Menudo con queso - 2011-05-01

2 minutes of laughs for 19 minutes of video -- "White House funny" apparently has a much lower standard than "funny funny."

Xenocide - 2011-05-01

There are bad things in the world!

All laughter is banned until we fix the bad things!

Xenocide - 2011-05-01

That should have been a response to Cognitive Dissonance. Anyway, watching Trump squirm is reason enough to give this a five.

spikestoyiu - 2011-05-02

During his entrance video, Obama uses the clip of Daniel using the crane kick from "Karate Kid". Later that night, Lyoto Machida knocks out Randy Couture with almost the same fucking kick at UFC 129. COINCIDENCE? Probably.
