Those machines exist precisely because there are very few banks that will take coin deposits. It's now a "service" provided to merchant accounts. 5 stars for the guy never actually complaining about the real crime here, the usurious 10% fee. But thanks to inflation, soon the smallest unit of US currency with be the Franklin.
I would rather go to Coinstar and pay a small fee (which actually isn't even present at most grocery stores) than deal with smarmy bank tellers who act like doing their overpaid jobs is the worst thing you could have possibly asked them to do.
I don't belong to a bank, I belong to a credit union because I'm a communist. They help me out by counting my coins and I help them out by over drafting my account bi-monthly.
