I seem to remember these things being marketed as Sock-em Boppers instead of Socker Boppers.
Also, you fill these with enough air they become hard as a rock.

spiteful crow - 2011-06-04 There's another ad in the related videos that calls them Sock-em Boppers.
But yeah, "Sock-em" was the only name I remember seeing as a kid. Maybe this is some Canadian version or something, I dunno.

My friend had a pair of these. One pair. Meaning we each slid one onto our right arm and whaled on each other. The loser would have to endure a round facing a 2 Sockem' Bopper juggernaught. After getting smashed in the face enough times, it would seriously start to piss you off.
Oh, and after about 10 minutes of use, the pocket you put your hand in would become disgustingly sweaty.
5 for nostalgia.

from my recollection they were once sock-em boppers and later became socker boppers, but the internet consensus is that they were originally socker boppers and became sock-em boppers later. there is no explanation for this name change and it is the greatest mystery facing planet earth.

Dread Pirate Roberts - 2011-06-04 Wikipedia lists it as "(formerly Socker Boppers"). Perhaps they hit legislation... or maybe they just figured everyone was slurring the name together, so it became "sock'm'boppers", or "sock'em Boppers"?
Either way, I remember Sock'em Boppers, too. I never had them... and am kind of proud of that fact.

A guy brought some of these in when I was in high school and it resulted in numerous bloody lips... The fun didn't end until well after several of the things had popped.
