That clip is just like if someone took Prey (a five-year old, B-quality Xbox game) and turned down the graphical quality, lights, and color scheme, removed the AI and enemy diversity, got rid of the level designers and artists, and took out all interesting ideas including artificial gravity, portals, spirit-walking and multiple colliding civilizations sharing the same space, and only added to this bare-bones framework a healthy dose of angry sexually-frustrated misogyny.

Duke Nukem 3D didn't have an audible alien gangbang going on in a rape ship. It didn't have abortion jokes. It didn't have two women having their alien rape babies explode out of their bodies while Duke Nukem comments indifferently "Hmm... you're fucked!" It didn't have wall boobs and a loading screen that says "Slap wall boobs because real women don't like theirs slapped."

Duke Nukem 3D was tongue-in-cheek. This game just hates women.

It's just as crass as it ever was, just with more voice acting and fewer technical limitations.

Duke Nukem 3d still is a guilty pleasure to play. Duke Nukem Forever takes that pleasure away and turns that experience into an embarrassing one.

Please don't buy this game. Go buy Duke Nukem 3d instead and then install a high resolution patch if graphics are a concern.

Once again I concede that the wall boobs are a bit on the...bizarre side, but the rest of this shit? I'm afraid you are incorrect sir it was all in DN3D, not to mention being a science fiction plot standard for decades. maybe you never got around to the 4th episode, "the birth", in which all of the things you describe transpire. Claiming Duke was ever anything but crude and profane (tongue in cheek included) would be a heinous misnomer. Maybe the game sucks, maybe the jokes aren't sidesplittingly hilarious, maybe you are the worlds staunchest defender of womens rights, but the outcries of appalled disgust at the descendant of "shake it baby" duke freaking nukem seem awfully forced.

I did play DN3D, and there are moments in this game like the scene Old_Zircon linked to that are worse than that:

Mark-Kate and Ashley Olsen: "Duke, we were raped by an alien, but are going to mention we had sex lots of times before that, to emphasize that we're sluts!"
Duke: "Hmm, then I guess you deserve your horrible death."
*horrible death*
Duke: "Time to run around murdering moaning women by punching their tits, while saying how sad it is that it's always the pretty ones who get raped. Because now I don't get to fuck them. Which is all they're good for."

More importantly, your point seems to be that because it's meant to be offensive, you can't understand how people are "offended by these kind of shenanigans." It doesn't have to be surprising to be stupid.

DN3D could be interpreted as a misogynistic game. This is basement-dwelling-level bizarre fetishism.

This game does not deserve your efforts to play devil's advocate.

It could also be the realism in the current game that makes it more disturbing. When limited by sprites that have two frames (the cocooned naked women from DN3D, the dancers, etc.), it's cartoonish-looking and doesn't have the same impact. The audio wasn't as good back then, either; the dialogue sounded like it was coming from a cell phone receiver, and there wasn't enough to make ambient noises of suffering without bogging the game down.

Imagine watching the old Atari cart, "Custer's Revenge" as portrayed by photorealistic "actors" instead of 4-bit graphics. The original we can laugh at as being ludicrous and offensively amusing, the 'updated' version would be vastly disturbing. If a Looney Tunes cartoon was rendered in this engine and featured a man named Elmer being realistically blown up by his own hunting rifle, the result wouldn't be slapstick comedy.

This isn't a defense of the new Duke Nukem, but one reason (of many) that it can't work this close to "real life."

I'll defend any amount of offensiveness if it's genuinely funny, or has a point.

Still, I haven't ruled out yet that Duke Nukem's point is to mock it's fans, decades of wasted media hype, or destroy nostalgic delusions.

I have a hard time believing it isn't exactly that.
