I think I'm gay for Stephen Fry.

jyrque - 2011-08-01

Who isn't?

IrishWhiskey - 2011-07-31

Lovely location, ugly/touristy city

Xenocide - 2011-07-31

Those parrots promise so much, but it's all lies. Don't trust them, Stephen. The parrots only want one thing.

I grew up in Florida and Stephen's snowy cabin imagery made me quite happy.

jangbones - 2011-07-31

"Rotting" is an excellent way to sum up Miami.

memedumpster - 2011-07-31

Couldn't have said it better. I feel sorry for him having to be there.

Nikon - 2011-08-01

Miami is a terrible place.

chumbucket - 2011-07-31

The city that time forgot

twinkieafternoon - 2011-07-31

Insert "Parrots = LeBron James" joke here.

hammsangwich - 2011-08-01

He would hate Houston. All the concrete (probably more) and no beach.

Hooker - 2011-08-01

So is this a show where an Englishman (I know who Stephen Fry is) drives around in a car talking shit about places?

The Mothership - 2011-08-01

US tour in a London cab. He absolutely adores lots of the US.

cognitivedissonance - 2011-08-01

He is actually very cheery and accomodating, and this entire series is a pleasure to watch.

Miami is, without a doubt, JUST THAT BAD. I can attest to Fry's hatred of Miami being entirely justified, it is awful.

Syd Midnight - 2011-08-03

This is the first clip I've seen from this show where he isn't filled with curiosity and delight at the exotic wonders of America. He drives around enjoying the country more than any of us ever could, alternately awed, fascinated, amused, and respectful. Check out the clips where he's at a Nevada whorehouse, a Mendocino County firing range, and a college football game. He loves the hell out of this country.

And then he gets to Miami.

eatenmyeyes - 2011-08-01

mug of what?

akinskirage - 2011-08-01

Horlicks

Killer Joe - 2014-02-10

I heard "hornets". I was all "Dayum. He must really hate the place".
I currently live in Miami for school and he's pretty much spot on.

baleen - 2011-08-01

It was nice in the 70s.

Dr Dim - 2011-08-01

I like Stephen Fry but I don't follow this "beautiful people are ugly" thing. OK, if they're noticeably vain, but what if they just like going to the beach?

kingofthenothing - 2011-08-01

What's ugly is not so much that they're beautiful, but what goes with it, namely, the attention-whoring and demanding to be worshiped. In many cases the road to beauty precludes intelligence, a sense of humor and a meaningful personality.

Raggamuffin - 2011-08-01

I'm struggling with it too, but I think what he means is that by being attractive people in this context, they become hollow props for the scene, just like the palm trees and the whatnots.

memedumpster - 2011-08-01

I find them grossly physically unattractive, for about the same reason I find Real Dolls and that one anime doll with the gyrating nipples unattractive. Most "beautiful people" are squarely in the uncanny valley.

Hooker - 2011-08-01

The Internet has really gone way too far with the term "uncanny valley."

memedumpster - 2011-08-01

I agree, Hooker, but "plasto-symmetro-fugly" didn't seem to pack the same punch.

Dr Dim - 2011-08-01

It's interesting how people define beauty. To me it's just good genes, health and some basic grooming.

Cena_mark - 2011-08-01

someone is just bitter about being pudgy and pale.

animegurl1000 - 2011-08-01

cena_mark's slogan.

Tuan Jim - 2011-08-01

I guess you could get some sun?
