They developed this into an iPad version which works pretty well.

This has only one application: amusing drunks in a club setting. If you want to make original music out of it, you still need to program your own interesting beats, melodies and harmonies into it. That takes a bit of time and effort. And once you've gotten that far, you might as well just use the editing software to synthesize the rest of it into a finished product...

Void 71 - 2011-08-21 Buzz was also the first thing I thought of when I saw this thing. Well, Buzz and Reaktor, but Reaktor is Buzz on steroids.
This is an interesting concept, but it looks kind of unwieldy. I don't think anything will replace a keyboard, some knobs and a computer. At least not in the foreseeable future.

misterbuns - 2011-08-21 Matmos used one live with Bjork at Coachella a few years ago. It sounded amazing.

bjork used this on her tour a few years ago.. I always thought it was a cool, novel but not very useful interface, but just looking at this video now I realise how bloody awkward the thing is seems to be to use to try and play a song. like...
only so much space on it for those symbols,
only so many of each symbol
how do you change for than 2 things at the same time?
reaching across to the symbols on the other side of the table.
how do you rotate and or move them on one axis without affecting the other parameters?
