Remove that Armin Tamzarian right now.

I'm warning you.

Shanghai Tippytap - 2011-08-26

the entire dynamic was ruined by his mother still existing.

the "armin tamzarian" shit was just scratching the bottom of the pot.

that said, "i came close to madness trying to find it here in the States but THEY JUST CAN'T GET THE SPICES RIGHT"

Change - 2011-08-26

If there's a save, then giving it one star seems like poor choice.

Caminante Nocturno - 2011-08-26

Yeah, man. What the fuck?

cognitivedissonance - 2011-08-27

Shearer walked off the show for that episode, but then offered him a raise.

Xenocide - 2011-08-27

For some reason, David X. Cohen considers the Armin Tamzerian episode the best thing he's ever written. He spends the entire commentary track being incredibly defensive and insisting that it's a work of brilliance and that people who dislike it don't watch The Simpsons the correct way.

The other folks on the track seem to be humoring him.

Pompoulus - 2011-08-27

Nerds value internal consistency in their worlds, and I can dig it I guess, but in a show like The Simpsons where shit is constantly changing to fit this or that episode it's kind of tragic to see people flipping out because something broke their precious canon.

The episode itself was not amazing but come on.

Xenocide - 2011-08-28

I think most fans issue with the episode (which he completely fails to address) isn't messing with Skinner's backstory, but the fact that the episode simply isn't funny. It instead makes a lumbering attempt at doing a serious drama episode, and the result comes off like fanfiction.

Pompoulus - 2011-08-28

Oh, okay.

Well I guess that's true.

Pompoulus - 2011-08-26

Five if only because it has the 'steamed hams' exchange. I'll never let you go again, baby. I'll download you this time.

freedoom - 2011-08-26

It's an Albany expression.

Xenocide - 2011-08-27

I honestly think Steamed Hams deserves to be up with there Who's on First, Dead Parrot, and 10,000 Year Old Man. It's one of the greatest two-man comedy routines ever recorded.

Chalkdust - 2011-08-27

largely improvised too, as I recall

Pompoulus - 2011-08-27

!!!

I want proof of this.

kwash - 2011-08-27

Localized entirely in your kitchen.

Mhmm!

Riskbreaker - 2011-08-26

I never got the recipe for steamed hams.

oswaldtheluckyrabbit - 2011-08-26

It was the children's fault, sir. I tried to stop them.

Explodotron - 2011-08-26

May I see?

...No

voodoo_pork - 2011-08-26

I think you mean "SuperNintendo Chalmers"

dowstroyer666 - 2011-08-27

Whats a battle?

Aurora Borealis. At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your kitchen.

funny shit

garcet71283 - 2011-08-27

It really is a shame this show is still on. It used to be so good. I can recite many of these scene by heart.

Now, there is absolutely nothing memorable (and rarely funny)

An entire generation of kids will remember this show for the unfunny shit it has become, rather than what it was. Sad :(

Riskbreaker - 2011-08-27

Shhhhh, some people here are very touchy about that subject.

Change - 2011-08-27

An entire generation of kids will smoke pot and laugh at cartoons about yellow people.

Toenails - 2011-08-27

I too have very strong views on a cartoon I enjoyed as an adolescent.

Although, my opinion differs in nuanced ways from yours so we are now the bitterest of enemies.

kwash - 2011-08-27

Adventure time. Flapjack. Chowder. Even the new Futurama is still pretty good.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2011-08-28

Oh so you hear R's as B's. I see.
