When I was little, the thought that Homer would shoot Ned Flanders in the face, thinking he was a perfectly normal live human being, horrified me. Come to think of it, a lot of the throwaway gags on this show horrified me as a kid.
That's my favorite Simpsons grim one-liner, because if you dropped it into any horror movie it would be a showstopper and probably the darkest line in the movie.
He was never going to get another chance like this one, and it worked out in the end anyway.
Can't believe this wasn't already on here. It's one of my most memorable Simpson's lines.

Well "chew your ear" means to talk too much to someone, like "I hope I'm not chewing your ear off" or something. So, it's nothing homoerotic.
