that only aired on AS, correct?

sasazuka - 2015-05-14 It's not the final episode ever. Even if Harry Shearer's departure kills the show for good (and I doubt it will), there will already be several episodes with the dialogue already recorded for next season.

BiggerJ - 2015-05-14 Rodents of Unusual Size: I wonder if Shearer would come back for a concluding movie. If they called it The Final Episode of The Simpsons they wouldn't need to show any footage at all before its release; it would automatically make generic illions. It could even run for half an hour minus commercials. It could HAVE commercials and sell ludicrously expensive commercial space like the Superbowl.

infinite zest - 2015-05-15 Didn't Futurama have plans to fire all the main cast members too after its move to Comedy Central or am I just making that up?

infinite zest - 2015-05-15 Oh yeah! As for the Simpsons, I do hope that this signals the end. I still watch the syndicated ones when I've got nothing else to do, and regardless of the season, there has never been an unfunny or poorly written episode. Take this from someone who watches American Dad and Family Guy for the same reason, mostly because I'm at work and it's on, but still. S3-9 (or 4-8 depending) set the bar so high on so many levels that you might as well call it quits, but that'd be like Quintin Tarantino quitting making movies after Pulp Fiction. So like most of you, I don't tune in to watch it, but in a way I'm glad it's still there. And if the final season were announced, I'd make damn sure to do so. Also, The Simpsons mean a lot to a lot of people, but for me, I grew up about 10 blocks from Evergreen Terrace, and still like to frequent the bar that was used as the template for Moes (next door used to be a music store but it's now a bike shop-- go figure) when I'm over visiting with my folks. Last summer after a breakup I didn't have many living options so I moved back home for a month and just walked the streets the way I'd imagine Homer would. In a perfect world, Harry would at least reprise those characters for a final season, but no matter what I say it's still just coming from a fan and admirer. I hope Rick and Morty S2 doesn't suck. Seems like they're already running low on ideas.

Rick and Morty arrive to help out a old and tired cartoon

I think this will be the first time anything RICK AND MORTY-related has ever been broadcast officially in Canada.

Rick is in town visiting his estranged son, who years ago changed his surname to Frink out of shame. They'll try to have a nice dinner and reconnect. It will end horribly.
|
BiggerJ - 2015-05-15 They showed his dad in a Halloween episode. He's buff, charismatic, superior to his son in every way and, naturally, voiced by Jerry Lewis.
|
Xenocide - 2015-05-15 Halloween episodes don't count. Obviously Rick -- a character from a completely different show created 25 years after The Simpsons which airs on a different network, is owned by a different company, and has a completely different creative team -- must be Frink's REAL father. It just makes sense.

EvilHomer - 2015-05-15 No, BiggerJ is correct.

The idea of plundering the Simpsons' house is very appealing to me.

The Simpsons, doing the same tired thing they always did, were accidently killed off by more modern, cutting edge cartoons.
Then they morphed into badly done clones of themselves when their basic DNA was modified to be more like the modern cartoons.
Art imitates life.

The guest animator intros are the only thing I've watched from The Simpsons in years.
The show itself has been upstaged by what was originally a three-second throwaway gag.
RIP Simpsons.
