I remember seeing this with some friends when I was about fifteen or sixteen. It was the first half of a double feature at the drive-in. They would always show an old movie like this and follow it with a new release.

The second movie was "Return of the Living Dead", which was what we really went there to see. We did, however, end up really enjoying this one as well. That drive-in is long gone. For a while, it was a soccer complex, but now it's just a grassy field.

Gee, I don't know where Northerners got the idea Southerners like to mete out brutal violent "justice" against people they feel have "wronged" them with overwhelming numbers against small unarmed groups.

I watched this with the director's commentary years ago... Apparently, the director was an English professor in the south and wanted to make something similar to Brigadoon. I remember how fucked up and funny this was when I was young, but none of my friends appreciated the humor.
