Oh, God. This fucking cartoon.
I think I was 5 when I first saw this on TV. The plight of the poor cat & mouse was bad enough, but the ending really horrified me.
Granted, the dog was an evil jerk & deserved some kind of punishment, but this gave me a nightmare.
Seriously, I dreamed I was watching the cartoon again but this time after they started pouring the gravy, the dog split open and an endless torrent of cartoon steaks covered in gravy gushed out. For years, I thought that was really how the cartoon ended.
Or maybe it did and they just edit that part out now?

B. Weed - 2018-08-21 As far as I know, it never did. The only WB cartoon where I can think of someone actually bursting from overeating was Pigs is Pigs, and it was just a quick "kaboom!" sort of thing.
What you describe sounds a lot like what was done in a Flapjack cartoon, though...

I never picked up on the muffled “no” followed by the gurgling when I was a kid. Thanks for bringing this back into my life. Stars for evil.

Clearly this inspired the movie SE7EN.

I also love gravy! I'm glad the mouse and the cat and the dog are all friends!
