So is the end-of-the-millenium/Bush Era nostalgia starting to hit? Because I remember unicorns and Lisa Frank and stuff was popular with, uhh, whatever you call the sort of people who aren't hipsters because they actually do new things - you know, the people whose ideas get co-opted for profit by hipsters a few years later. Anyway, at least where I live that sort of folk were in to this kind of thing around, maybe, 1998-2002 and it trickled down to pop culture in the mid 00s. If that stuff is popular enough to warrant an illuminati conspiracy video now, that means the 20 year cycle of nostalgia really is shrinking and Frank Zappa was right after all.
"When you compute the length of time between 'The Event' and 'Nostalgia For The Event,' the span seems to be about 'a year less in each cycle.' Eventually, within the next quarter of a century the nostalgia cycles will be so close together that people will not be able to take a step without being nostalgic for the one they just took. At that point, everything stops."
-Zappa, 1993

Hazelnut - 2018-11-11 I think we crossed that point around 2016, where in November I was already nostalgic for October. Now we've reversed polarities and I'm nostalgic for an age of reason and humanism I can only hope will come in the future (and do my tiny little part to help bring about).

Mister Yuck - 2018-11-11 I like your theory but this Lisa Frank stuff is just people my age nostalgic for the trapper keepers we had when we were ten, i.e. twenty years ago.

Zoot42 - 2018-11-11 Then that must mean we are due for another goddamn unicorn craze in a few years.

Can't tell if MB submitted this to make fun of it or because he believes it.

Marlon Brawndo - 2018-11-11 HOW DARE YOU IGNORE THE THREAT OF UNICORNS ON BACKPACKS.

Hazelnut - 2018-11-13 Says the guy who thinks Nancy Pelosi and Donald Trump are a front for the same organization.

Marlon Brawndo - 2018-11-13 Yeah, I forgot about the moment where they both pulled the troops out of Afghanistan. MY BAD.

I think the creepiest thing about this is that their icon implies that two people worked on this together.
