I have no idea why. They were obsolete the instant the internet came around. The machines themselves still haven't improved over the past 30 years.

Mr. Purple Cat Esq. - 2021-03-30 @Nominal I noticed here in ireland anything medical is still done with paper, snailmail etc. Its insanely anachronistic. I guess having an official paper trail is super important in that industry and it would be difficult to update it.

simon666 - 2021-03-30 @Nominal, I think a lot of use cases are when offices require people to manually fill-in documents and sign or when the documents are already hardcopies. Nobody wants to go through the process of digitizing/scanning to then send electronically.
