RandomFerret - 2008-03-02

You are retarded. You are downvoting a parody because it is ridiculous. Seriously, fuck you.

Caminante Nocturno - 2009-02-09

Seriously, do you people have to be consistently stupid when rating these things?

SolRo - 2008-01-19

5 for mindless robot destruction anime

FABIO2 - 2008-01-19

+1 star for the "COMBINE?!" assault of panels

rroach - 2008-01-19

Japanese voices are more suited for the crap that comes out of these things. Subtitles makes it understandable... sorta.

Wonko the Sane - 2008-01-19

Pretty standard anime robot faire

Caminante Nocturno - 2008-01-19

It's a good time to be an anime fan.

TheOtherCapnS - 2008-01-19

This was a really good series. Most anime take some genre and exaggerate it. This series takes anime as its genre and exaggerates that (a lot like Dead Leaves did). By the end of the series the scope and intricacy has increased to truly ridiculous levels, all while intentionally throwing in every mecha and shonen anime stereotype they can muster. Plus, it is absolutely gorgeously drawn and stylized to a level few other shows have reached.

Damn I had fun watching this.

read_a_tv - 2008-01-19

Is this Gainax or Madhouse? The animation is very tolerable.

Aernaroth2 - 2008-01-20

Gainax. The animation's quite good, but bites off more than it can chew in a couple places, due to budget from what I've heard. I've also heard a lot of the less impressive places will be cleaned up for the DVD releases.

Redlof - 2008-01-19

It really does get a lot less kiddy in the later episodes. Trust me.

NineEleven - 2008-01-19

...and the ridiculousness is defended!

Xenocide - 2008-01-20

If you have no taste for the ridiculous, you're on the wrong website.

andru strange - 2008-01-19

no.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2008-07-11

You're on the wrong website.

Keefu - 2008-01-19

Theres a lot of mixed feelings for this series. I can imagine why. It seems like a fun homage to old 80s mech-shows though.

minimalist - 2008-01-19

Everything Gainax does is an homage to some aspect of their lost youth. They're ridiculous manchildren, but they're at their best when they recognize that fact and just go with it. This series was a lot of fun, really. As TheOtherCapnS said, it's a pastiche of nearly every mecha cliche there is.

GravidWithHate - 2008-01-19

The fansub I saw had "beast" translated as "furry". It made it much more fun to watch.

Cinnamon Imperialist - 2008-01-20

blue-haired dude has pretty eyes.

Aernaroth2 - 2008-01-20

The weird thing is, this is probably the sanest moment in the show.

j lzrd / swift idiot - 2008-07-04

It's the same time it was to be an anime fan in the '90s.

Also, people will downvote japanese cartoons just because they hate their image of the people who watch them, just like the delusional projection of their idea of what people who watch cat videos must be like.

Get used to it; there's no cure for Monumental Faggotry of their level. Really, the best you can do is pray that they'll realize what a waste they are, and take actions to rectify the mistake of their existance.

It's all any of us can do, the poor miserable bastards.

PurpleXVI - 2009-11-20

This is like the opposite of Evangelion, which is why it's so incredibly awesome. Not every episode is perfect or rewatchable, especially a lot of the filler between the climax points.

But holy shit, when things do hit a boil it gets so deliciously insane that you can only NOT love it if you have no soul.
