So... based on this spot, I can totally see why someone would want Jim Caviezel to play Jesus.

There is no god. Ian McKellan, why hath thou forsaken us?

ztc - 2009-11-06 It's well-known enough in the US for the Simpsons to base a whole episode on it.

Remaking 'The Prisoner' badly just proves we are in The Village.

As for actual thoughts on the thing itself, this looks like it just might not suck after all. Glad to see those SYFY idiots has no hand in it.

Having just watched the original run of the prisoner and having it fresh in my mind, I would say that this doesn't look bad, but perhaps it's playing on the sci-fi too much. Bear in mind, the prisoner was based in the "real world" and the surreal aspects were often due to theatrical trickery and hallucinogenic drugs. The only real sci-fi was rover itself and perhaps the slightly advanced computer technology. Then again, sci-fi or real world, the imprtant thing is the biting social commentary, which might seem obvious to someone watching the original now, so if this keeps that intact while adding some sophistication, then I guess it'll be already. If not, it'll suck. Either way, I'm sure I'll prefer the original.

I'm wary of trailers and I'm worried they'll have dumbed it down considerably, but I'll reserve judgment until I see it.
I keep thinking of the American version of Doctor Who, though, and that's not a good sign.

chumbucket - 2009-11-06
What made Number 6 in the original great was his ability to turn the method of Number 2 on its end with clever subterfuge. I'm not sensing this as much with this one.

I'm not going to spoil the ratings since I guess this is evil enough, but I can't bring myself to give it anything more than 1 star. Seriously, fuck this shit.

vissarion - 2009-11-06
I think they were more interested in remaking Lost than The Prisoner.

I've never seen the original. This looks possibly good.
|
Hooker - 2009-11-06 Although, what I would take issue with is the same sorts of people that tear down something like this will in another breath trumpet the aggrivating descent into stupidity that is Battlestar Galactica.

Desidiosus - 2009-11-06 You had me right up until this statement. Now I must unload nerd rage on you.

You misspelled aggravating, you dolt.
