as a fat guy i know i shouldn't criticize the in shape but shouldn't he be keeping his back straight and extending his arms a bit more? and doesn't he kind of loose the record by stopping every few floor humps?
FABIO
Those aren't pushups OR the worm. This guy fails at both records.

This video makes me proud that I can at least crank out a couple of real ones.

This video may serve as a vanitas.

There are LOADS of different and equally valid variations on the common pushup. This is not one of them.
chumbucket
And not even 1000 CONSECUTIVE push ups? What kind of lame-ass record is this?
Killer Joe
Wait, you're allowed to stop to rest? That's just doing a few push ups many times, bud.
chumbucket
What else kills me about this is that the dude has music and an audience to witness something as unremarkable as this. How much did he pay them?

spikestoyiu
If you're allowed to stop and rest, then I have to imagine I've done tens of thousands.
fatatty
I'm sorry but even with rest doing that motion 1000 times is really difficult. I can safely wager no one on this board could do it in the time it took him if at all.
spikestoyiu
PoeTV pushup contest. This guy does sets of 25 with a 16-17 second break, it seems.

Hooker
I'm sorry, do you have some issue with the hideous cynicism and bitterness of people who post on the Internet?

oddeye
I too will wager that no one on this board is able to match this mans world record breaking attempt. Hereby you are all rendered unable to make fun of his floppy technique or the fact that he takes loads of breaks till proven otherwise.

Good day.

kwash
Also, because none of you are expertly trained chefs or classically trained musicians, you are no longer allowed to criticize the food you eat or the music you hear.

TheOtherCapnS
I'm actually an expertly trained chef and a classically trained musician! *whew*

Hooker
I'm sorry, is this a controversial stance?

I would say you should not (or, if you want to use stupid language, "not allowed to") criticize food or music if you have no level of practice or study of it. If you know nothing about music or food and you have an opinion on it, you either get to confine yourself to that opinion being a statement of your own preference and nothing more or you don't get your opinion taken seriously on any level. If you begin to criticize a chef's technique or a musician's talent when you know dick all, you're being an idiot.

kingofthenothing
well, if something "tastes bad", I think you can safely criticize it. Also, if a song isn't your cup of tea, it's perfectly alright to say it sucks, in your personal opinion. I personally can't stand country music for the most part because the twangy accents and hearing that same country music sound almost all songs have are annoying as fuck, plus they dogpile lyrics on you about how you have to get your life right with Jesus before you die or you have to work hard and drink a lot of beers or you're not a real man or whatever. Fuck that noise.

kingofthenothing
I think where I was trying to go with this is there are times where you don't have to have a professional background to be able to criticize something.

For example, if you're in a restaurant, and there are serious health code violations going on, you are well within bounds to complain. The chef might not have meant to put a cockroach in your salad but if one ends up in there, the customer can damn well criticize all they want and it's ultimately on the chef's head. Trying to tell a customer they don't know what they're talking about or that the cockroach was some kind of bonus would be insane.

Musically, similar things could happen. It might not be so much about the music in the case of a concert but the total experience. Maybe the crowd is too aggressive and you end up getting taken out of the show early, on a stretcher. You won't know why some fat dude decided to plow into you and break six of your ribs but you might have negative associations with that band in the future. Or maybe some idiot causes a fire in a club and it burns down with most of the peope in it, and you're one of the few survivors and have nightmares and still recall the screams and sounds of burning flesh and people being trampled on the way out. Maybe it haunts you all your life and just can't ever listen to that band because it'll bring back all the bad memories.

I guess what I'm saying is people don't always have to be an expert on something to be justified in thinking the way they do.

spikestoyiu
But can you cook or play AND do the worm while your friends cheer you on?
spikestoyiu
Whoops.

phalsebob
Pff... if it's not consecutive, I've done 1000 push ups. Just took me 8 years.
Old_Zircon
I can do 40-50 good form pushups, which makes me a lot closer to the world record than this guy.
