The Mothership - 2012-12-13

Since when did Barbie have an evil nemesis after her glitter? The animation isn't bad and the cultural references are amusing, but this is not at all far removed from 'math class is hard'. Barbie is superficial enough, now she is teaching little girls to fight over who can be the most superficial. 5 for evil, not good.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-12-13

I think it's teaching children that if adults want something from you, hold out for the highest offer like a Bond villain.

Or it could be a send-up of the superficiality of Barbie, a self-aware parody.

I mean, it's not as bad as the Simpsons teaching everyone that if you're stupid, you can have a family, work in a nuke plant, and never really suffer any consequences from being drunk, stupid, and impulsive, right?

BiggerJ - 2012-12-13

Poe's Law. You'll never know.

twinkieafternoon - 2012-12-13

You're looking skinny like a model with your eyes all painted black.
You just keep going to the bathroom; always say you'll be right back.
Well, it takes one to know one, kid, I think you've got it bad,
But what's so easy in the evening by the morning is such a drag.

delicatessen - 2012-12-13

So glitter is cocaine right

Aelric - 2012-12-13

Read my mind.

Macho Nacho - 2012-12-13

Glad I wasn't the only one who thought that.

memedumpster - 2012-12-13

Obviously, otherwise the parody would kind of fall flat.

This is a parody, right?

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-12-13

I'm 99% sure it's a parody in the eyes of the writer and director.

Whether the people at Mattel are savvy enough to realize what's going on is where the question lies. Maybe they convinced them that "Toy Story" ironic humor was what sold Barbie and Ken in the third movie and they were allowed to get away with it.

Racketeer - 2012-12-13

I just watched all of these on Youtube. They are all really great, and fortunately there isn't a fandom associated with it to make it creepy!

Udderdude - 2012-12-13

Yet.

memedumpster - 2012-12-13

There is now, dude.

Xenocide - 2012-12-13

Ha ha, you base your opinions of things on what kind of fandom they have.

Seriously, go outside.

Racketeer - 2012-12-13

I haven't seen any threads on /co/ about it yet so it doesn't count.

Macho Nacho - 2012-12-13

Sorry to brake it to you Racketeer, but I found out about this series from a thread on /co/.

Racketeer - 2012-12-13

Well, I found out about these from here - there are a few episodes of this from the other season already uploaded!

But still, okay, you win that point. I guess I need to lurk moar. If there is a fandom, I haven't seen terrible stuff from it infiltrate where I get my content.

Xenocide - 2012-12-13

Pretty much every cartoon that comes along gets threads on /co/. Sorry, Racket, guess you'll have to swear off animation forever.

Aelric - 2012-12-13

Just wait a little while, it'll get here.

Aelric - 2012-12-13

Meant to be a reply to Racketeer

Xenocide - 2012-12-13

Barbie stopped her friends right before they were about to bathe in horse vomit.

Caminante Nocturno - 2012-12-13

All of these characters would be the bad guys in anything else they could possibly appear in.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2012-12-13

Without glitter to sneeze there could be no Hollywood.

SteamPoweredKleenex - 2012-12-13

Or Mariah Carey's best movie!

American Standard - 2012-12-14

These are surprisingly watchable.

Rudy - 2012-12-17

I wanted to watch but my mind can not process that much pink.
