More like PBS.

I always enjoy demonstrations like these.

TeenerTot - 2013-10-11

I got sucked in to watching part 2.
Mmmm. Bread.

chumbucket - 2013-10-11

Yeah I just might make one of these babies.

Kieran27 - 2013-10-11

Damn... now I'm hungry for that bread. And I'd have to build an oven to get it. Project for next year I guess. Five stars for the description.

Go ahead and make the bread. He'll tell you what temperature to set your modern oven at and how long to cook it!

baleen - 2013-10-12

l highly recommend the Tartine baking book if you want to make seriously outstanding bread in a normal gas\electric oven.

He's got another video showing how to set up an earthen oven that's useable sooner, but not as durable. It's the sort of oven an encamped army would set up if they were going to be in one spot for a moderate length of time.

His whole channel is excellent. I've cooked a few of the recipes he's shown. He did some really excellent asparagus side dishes, beef pasty and an awesome pork pie.

What I like about him is he's not one of those fanatical foodies. He doesn't insist you use a real wood-fired stove, 18th century cooking implements or expensive hard-to-find ingredients. The pork pie recipe called for gelatin made from boiling pigs' feet, but he said "if you don't like that idea, just use some packets of unflavored gelatin prepared according to their instructions." Most people with YouTube cooking channel would freak out at the idea of using canned ingredients as opposed to fresh.

I was happy to see that he uses flax oil on his cast iron. I've been using it because I figure a polymerizing oil would make a harder coating but I had no idea if I was actually right.

Guy seems nice. I bet it would be fun to hang out with him for an afternoon.

Killer Joe - 2014-12-10

You'd look up and BAM! You'd realize he has you stomping cobb.

Triggerbaby - 2013-10-11

The bread in part 2 looks excellent.

mellowg - 2013-10-12

This is cool and all but I have to deduct one star for the host not have a weird dutch accent.

baleen - 2013-10-12

-1 phantom star for showing a giant Safeway basket of crimini mushrooms.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2013-10-18

I found this calming. The bread demonstration is also good.
