Soon he'll be in a hover-round, leering angrily at the next display with a warm, fresh iced-tea.

I kind of want to pretend he was set up to do this, but with the past videos this seems all Chris-Chan.

infinite zest - 2014-12-27

Ha! It took me watching the video twice (so a total of six times) to figure out what happened. I wonder who was taking the video? The Paparazzi?

To my surprise, it wasn't a Trolling Troll Who Trolls, but a tumblr user - http://monozettai.tumblr.com/post/106261810945/so-i-ran-into-someo ne-today-while-i-was-waiting

Interesting. I don't think I'd recognize Chris Chan from anybody else who kind of looks like that, sort of when I thought I might have run into TFL Bill at a bar. I'm still convinced it was him, but I wasn't about to start filming because he could've been some other person with a hat that started telling me about 9/11 over a game of pinball, and I've seen Bill's face a lot more than Chris Chan's..

infinite zest - 2014-12-27

I guess putting 2 and 2 together isn't that hard when the person starts redecorating a Sonic Boom display though..

Cool thanks! When I was working at a movie theatre, we didn't encourage it, but people would tag our cardboard displays all the time, and unless it was something offensive like a swastika or a big dong, we'd just kind of let it slide. This would usually happen during midnight Rocky Horror, so who knows what they were on? Imagine 600+ Chris Chans at once basically. If we saw someone doing it we'd stop them but at least I never asked them to leave. It's just some piece of cardboard that's going to get destroyed anyway, and not property of the theatre. Anyway we wouldn't call the cops and half the time they were pretty funny so we just left them up.

Shoebox Joe - 2014-12-28

That's my kind of movie theater, IZ. Is that theater still up and lax to that extent? I have a few first impressions of "Unbroken" I'd like to publicly share.

infinite zest - 2014-12-28

I'm not sure. Basically we were too busy with other shit. If the district manager was in town and observed us sitting idly by while someone was doing it, we'd probably be in trouble, but it's kind of like sending someone to the bathroom to make sure someone isn't writing in the bathroom stalls, which were worth a lot more to us because that was theatre property and not the studio's.. chances are GameStop was going to trash it in a week anyway, and Chris could've just asked for it and it would've been his in a few days post-Christmas.

You know the Plinkett reviews, that's the theatre that's in the Star Wars review. I think my favorite story was during a particularly cold snap in Milwaukee (about 45 below at night) and we had one of the old school marquees where you actually had to get up on a 50-foot ladder instead of the standard suction kinds that most theatres used. Anyway, regardless of the weather we had to change it for the next week if we were getting a movie, so he just put up "FUCK YOU I QUIT" and it was too frozen for the next couple of days for us to take off. Ironically, a bunch of people came to see the movie with that title. :)

Binro the Heretic - 2014-12-27

Let me guess, he drew a dick and balls on Sonic with a Sharpie?

Sudan no1 - 2014-12-28

...he was coloring Sonic's arms blue with a sharpie.

This seems like a result of his long-standing Sonic obsession and probably would have happened even if there weren't people trying to fuck with every aspect of his life. 5 for authentic Chrischan action.

Binro the Heretic - 2014-12-28

Wait, what?

Shoebox Joe - 2014-12-28

Coloring an old sonic's arms blue? That would actually be a sign of acceptance and moving forward for Chris.

Sudan no1 - 2014-12-29

I might be wrong because

1. I don't know shit about sonic and I want to keep it that way
2. I try not to follow every detail of Chris's life and I want to keep it that way

spicediver - 2014-12-27

infinite zest - 2014-12-27

I think EH and I were in a long discussion about how Pac Man can or can't have legs, and I used Mario's change of color from a red costume to a blue one because it was the only example I could think of; it'd be a lot more applicable for this. I hate to say it, but I sort of understood when people were upset that they donated to kickstart a new Megaman game and it turned out to be Megagirl, not necessarily because they were misogynists but because it just wasn't what they thought they were paying towards, kind of like if I pre-ordered Duke Nukem Forever and there was a Tomb Raider game inside and I couldn't get a refund.

Anyway, this is ridiculous but not surprising given what I know about the guy..

fluffy - 2014-12-28

The megaman thing was fucking retarded, and you're misremembering it completely. It's not that they decided to change the main character boy-bot to a girl-bot (and even if they did it's not like that would have had any impact on the game whatsoever), just that they hired a community manager who happened to have drawn some gender-swapped fanart of the main character at one point in the past.

Seriously, that's what the outrage was about. It was not a change to the game at all. Not even the sprites.

infinite zest - 2014-12-28

Interesting. I never paid that much attention to the whole thing. I just heard that a bunch of people wanted Megaman, and regardless of the whole gender swap, they didn't get what they thought they were paying for. Frankly I couldn't give a poop. But let's say that I was going to see my favorite band, and the lead singer who was female vocalist was replaced by some guy in the band at the last minute (I've had to replace female vocalists before so I'm not totally pulling this out of my ass. I just have a pretty big range..) It doesn't necessarily mean that they can't reach the same notes and perform the same songs, but the experience wouldn't be the same, if I really wanted to see that gal, and already paid for it.. I'd still have a fun time dancing around but I kinda wanted to see her. I dunno. :)

EvilHomer - 2014-12-28

Mario's change made sense, because they changed the color of his undershirt, and that's no big deal, because we all know that Mario has more than one shirt to wear. Also, the wardrobe change happened very early on, before people had the opportunity to get overly attached to his original color scheme. He had a moustache and his dominant color remained red; that's what people noticed, that's what people cared about.

The Sonic recolour is different. They're not changing his clothes, they're changing his actual body - giving him sleeves of fur, or maybe taking them away, I can't remember. That's sort of bullshit, and not the thing you do to a beloved childhood mascot without some words of explanation. How is it that Sonic can magically grow or lose fur on his arms? Is he mutating? Did he forget to shave?

Plenty of characters undergo slight wardrobe changes over the years. Princess Kitana, for example, has worn a different outfit in each Mortal Kombat title. None of her outfits were ever as good as the original, of course, but they all made sense, even the movie outfits which failed to conform to her established colour scheme. Same applies to Samus, Rebecca Chambers, Guan Yu, Wolverine. Hell, even Ryu from Street Fighter wears a gi with the sleeves left on instead of torn off every now and then! No, the Sonic recolour is more like the latest Tomb Raider reboot; they took a confident, badass, proudly full-figured icon of gaming and turned her into a crying, whining barely-legal, with "mere" D-cup boobs because reasons. SonicBoomgate is a fundamental shift in a character's morphology, a retcon that cannot easily be explained in-universe.

As for Megaman, I don't know anything about the incident you and fluffy are discussing, but... wasn't Megaman always fairly girly? He's meant to be a child, some sort of badass semi-shoujo robo-shota, and IIRC didn't they always hire female actresses to do his voice work?

Binro the Heretic - 2014-12-28

Okay, so I looked into this shit after reading this thread. Forgive my ignorance, I usually avoid watching videos made by people with obvious mental problems who should be encouraged to get help instead of being egged on to do crazier and crazier shit.

So apparently, this Chris-Chan is upset because Sonic's arms were recolored in the latest game. And now they're going around painting cardboard standees to match the old color. I can overlook that in light of the fact this person, who apparently identifies as a male lesbian? is mentally unstable. It's the sort of thing I would expect from someone like that. They need help and some sympathy.

What I don't get is seemingly normal people freaking out over this, too. It's a minor detail. EvilHomer, recoloring Sonic's arms is nothing like what happened to Lara Croft. Sonic is still Sonic, with or without blue arms. Lara's entire personality was swapped. If all they had done was given her more realistic physical proportions, I doubt many people would have been upset. The problem, as you yourself pointed out, changing her from an unflinching badass to a whiny cowering child.

EvilHomer - 2014-12-28

*I'm* not freaking out about it! I'm not even a Sonic fan (I was an NES kid). Rather, I am simply doing my diligent best to answer IZ, and explain why it might be that Sonic fans are upset over the whole arm situation. The Sonic redesign may not be as deep or significant as the Lara one, at least not from the perspective of a non-fan, but the difference is one of scale and scope, rather than kind.

Sonic's arms changing colour is a significant departure from established Sonic facts, and cannot be easily explained in-universe.

infinite zest - 2014-12-28

I think one of the big factors is that the game apparently really sucks. Sonic 2 (and later Sonic CD when I could get it on a different platform) are hands-down my two favorite platformers, and honestly I really liked Sonic Adventure, even though most people I talk to had a problem it. Giving Mario a clean shave (or finding out Samus was a girl, which was really cool to the 8 year-old me) probably wouldn't be a big deal if the new game was still great, but it seems like sort of a double whammy for Sonic fans who have seen their favorite mascot's "new look" and then tried to play a glitchy, shitty game.

As for the Female Megaman, here's a little article about it that I didn't know about:

As for the character, he's going to be a dude now, or at least as much of a dude as an android can be..

EvilHomer - 2014-12-28

Oh, well, hiring someone who's never seen the series before as your community manager is sort of a shitty idea, especially when they then lie about their lack of experience. It sounds to me like fans were worried that this was going to turn into Bad BoxArt Megaman 2.0, and that's a legitimate concern! Like, if the Sailor Moon reboot gets handed off to some dude who's never seen the original series and assumes it had something to do with Popeye, I might get a bit anxious, too.

spikestoyiu - 2014-12-28

The funniest about this is the fact that there's a serial arm-colorer out there, prepared to fight for what he believes in (which is blue arms). Like these poor employees had to call each other and pass along the warning.

Baron_Von_Bad_Beaver - 2014-12-28

Old_Zircon - 2014-12-28

Video Games: Important Thoughts Regarding

cognitivedissonance - 2014-12-28

Chris just committed assault, entered a store, in a mall, he's legally barred from entering, broke his probation and has apparently been doing this in multiple stores. Nobody is making him do this, there hasn't even been any provocation from the trolls about the Sonic Boom thing.

a) with Xbox Live and Playstation Network down, things got... weeeeeeeeeird. Not really sure if we can directly blame the imprisonment of Chris-Chan on Kim Jong Un, but there can be only ONE true Sonic the Hedgehog defender.

b) this is a guy who openly airs his fantasies of committing rape, has said he wants to be in a women's prison because he thinks it will be like "Orange is the New Black", and is genuinely, sincerely bonkers. The death of Bob didn't end his sanity, but the fire and destruction of CWCville DID. He was completely stripped of his personalized megalomania when those Legos went up in flames. You can directly pinpoint the the loss of "true" Chris to the fire. He has no true personality. There is no Chris-Chan. He is a collection of pop culture ephemera waddling around on McDonald's binge fueled fits of manic/obsessive/depressive/compulsion. He's an absolute sociopath, has no concern for anybody but himself, and even projects his narcissism onto God himself. If you feel sorry for Chris-Chan, I don't know what to tell you, and I've looked at every conceivable angle to find some sort of salvation in this man's story. I can't.

c) Meanwhile, Ullillillia is gainfully employed, lives on his own, has a documentary about him, is almost universally beloved by everybody, and has proven himself to be honestly America's last great genius. They are something of a reverse syzygy. With Chris-Chan in prison, U-Dawg can only logically be offered the MacArthur Genius Grant.

Shoebox Joe - 2014-12-28

A lot of my sympathy with Chris-chan is hindsight and I do believe the indignity with the engagement of Chris-chan has always been a facade so no one can feel as if he wasn't pushed. This can be considered all Chris-chan, but the CWCki forums make me skeptical as to whether it COULD be all Chris-chan. That forum is a screaming cess-pool filled with equally indignant, raging and deluded dinks. To assume that there isn't a sociopath more socially capable than Chris-chan let alone how huge a target Chris-chan is, is just plain stupid. Bob and Barb contributed to this boiling, but there's as much to hold on those attacking Chris-chan as there is to them holding on to Chris.

U-Dawg is probably an exemplary example of a harmless, unobtrusive person simply going about his life, he's a great example of folks not getting needless repercussions for being themselves, but at the same time I can't help but feel he may have gotten flak at some point.

cognitivedissonance - 2014-12-28

Like attracts like, though. If there was so much as a shred of evidence pointing to Chris as a benign, rather than malignant, we'd have found it by now. There'd be some evidence of him doing something good. There would be some way we could justify his deeds and damn the deeds of his audience.

That said, the only thing that may save his legacy is that he's literally living and dying for his art. The only other character I might possibly compare him to is Michael Alig, and thank God Emanuel Jesus that nobody was actually murdered.

Shoebox Joe - 2014-12-28

The issue isn't that it's hard to find a shred of evidence that he was ever a benign. The issue is that he's the subject of early internet vigilantism. I highly doubt it would have ever turned into "he'll learn" with a big emphasis on 'how" and "why" other than he's a 'tard back then. I really don't know how much of a turn around can be estimated about the internet since then.

When I first heard about Chris-chan, it was from someone who simply was fascinated at how easily manipulated he was. It wasn't about his views of autism, race or anything that had a shred of social concept thrown into it. He was a target and that was all that was needed to know.

It was also someone who would say to the extent of "he should know better" or "he'll learn" and no doubt that's the back bone excuse of anyone who is trying to get some C-chan action. Hell, there's a damn picture in the CWCki thread on this recent bit that shows a picture of Chris-chan getting a picture taken with a Gamestop employee and he just looks benignly stupid/eccentric with his sonichu medallion. If anything, I doubt there was any intention other than jerking him around.

Change - 2014-12-28

it is pretty fucking stupid to justify years of overt manipulation of a mentally fucked person because they are mentally fucked

Sexy Duck Cop - 2014-12-30

How about because it's funny?

EvilHomer - 2014-12-30

Some of it was funny. Liquid Chris was funny, because Liquid Chris was a natural wingman; he gave Chris material to work with, stuff *Chris* felt passionately about, and then knew when it was time to step back and let the star of the show shine. Chris was the hero, Liquid was only there to motivate him.

Most of Chris' trolls did not understand this. Most of Chris' trolls were arrogant and unfunny - they tried to hog the spotlight, they were boring, or they were both. A few, like BlueSpike and Jack Thaddeus, were so loathsome that THEY were clearly far bigger faggots than Chris could EVER be, leading to the perfectly justified anti-A-log backlash, of which Change seems to be an adherent.

People always remember the good stuff, but I dare you to sit through all five hours of Alec Benson Leary's obnoxious, tedious finger-wagging. The only funny bit in that entire ordeal was when the obviously bored Chris hung up on him.

MacGyver Style Bomb - 2014-12-27

Gmork - 2014-12-28

Without stopping or missing a beat, he half-heartedly sprays the employee in the chest with pepper spray on his way out of the store after being caught re-coloring sonic's arms on a display.

spikestoyiu - 2014-12-28

The assault is very easy to spot. I'm not sure how you missed it three times. It's not like Chris is difficult to miss in this video.

fluffy - 2014-12-28

Wait he's dressed up in drag these days? What the hell?

Anyway my 1-star was just because I'm so sick of this fucking circus and the whole Internet-being-the-Internet thing about it.

Gmork - 2014-12-29

5 for evil or 1 for too evil, it was a tough call

EvilHomer - 2014-12-29

He's not "dressed in drag". That is a slanderous mislabeling of his good name; "drag" makes him sound like a dang homo-sexual, of which he is most certainly not.

What Chris is, is a tomgirl and a male lesbian.

EvilHomer - 2014-12-29

More to the point, yes, he's dressing in women's clothes, only he does not consider it "drag" and would likely call you a troll and a homo for suggesting such a thing. Chris has been doing this for a number of years: he's worn bras since who knows when ("muscle bras", he called them) and he started getting bolder with his wardrobe just before Bob died. (Bob, his father, did not approve) After Bob died, Chris' final hurdle was removed, and he's been fully tomgirl'd out ever since.

This has been going on since at least 2011; however, some, including myself, would argue that Chris' tomgirl identity has been a long time coming. There's indication that Chris had yearned to identify as a woman since the early 2000s, possibly even the 1999s. Bob was clearly worried that his kid was too girly and might "turn into a faggot", and this fatherly paranoia seems to have left its mark on Chris at a very early age. But for all of Bob's efforts, he was only delaying the inevitable.

You can read more about it here: http://sonichu.com/cwcki/Tomgirl_Saga

spikestoyiu - 2014-12-29

I don't really follow Chris-Chan, etc, so what is the most popular theory: is his transformation into a TOMGIRL likely natural, something wholly influenced by his trolls, or some combination of the two? Like if Chris lived in a world where he was totally isolated from the Internet, would he still be dressing like someone from a really shitty 90's grunge band?

fluffy - 2014-12-29

nope,s till not regretting my 1-star. this whole fucking mess. jesus christ, get a life everyone.

Not to be pendantic, but that was not remotely "mace." Mace is not really available to the general public (at least, not without some barriers) and if that guy had been maced he would have been almost immediately immobilized. Pepper spray and mace are very different things.

oddeye - 2014-12-28

Yeah and he also seemed to spray it at his chest or something to very little effect. Still, regardless of what it was the intent is there and that's not ok.

Autistic or not, you can't go around vandalizing shit and assaulting the people that tell you to stop. He's crossing the line here.

Change - 2014-12-28

oddeye - 2014-12-28

What do you object to? Regardless of any impairment you may suffer from, you can't attack people you don't like. Are we agreed?

Some would say that his autism might have contributed to his actions here and perhaps it did bit that is ultimately of little consequence in relation to this video. A brain virus could have been the culprit and it would not change the fact that it's not an acceptable way to act.

Change - 2014-12-28

i'm sure your massively oversimplified jacking off about neuropathy and morality are logically consistent enough to talk shit about speeds like they're not fucked in the head in ways that require nuanced social discussion

making blanket statements about speds because of how one reacts after years of honest-to-god sociopathic cruelty by some fifty thousand people isn't just stupid, it's fucking sped-level retarded

oddeye - 2014-12-29

What the fuck are you talking about? The only blanket statement I've made is that you can't go around assaulting people regardless of any kind of illness or bad mood or anything at all that you may be suffering. Are you trying to make out this is "manslaughter rather than murder" or something to that end? I don't really care, the end result is the same.

How punishment should be served in light of mitigating circumstances is well beyond the scope of my initial statement, which I would challenge you to somehow find false if you are so against it. Obviously I don't have all the facts (which aren't needed for a straight up video of one man assaulting another man) so I would be a poor judge of what should be the consequence. So long as he gets some kind of help, I'd be happy.

Change - 2014-12-29

no, seriously, get fucked

Shoebox Joe - 2014-12-29

"Autistic or not"

You don't think that logic defeats itself?

Chris-Chan has always had the emotional constraints of a 10 year old. He has never been a direction that would have widened his view or illuminate his emotions to Chris-Chan himself to a point where he'd have adequate feedback.

I'm 30 years old. I feel extremely emotionally stunted because I often do not have an appropriate train of thought to use in a situation. But the biggest problem is that I am extremely easy going and easily confuse being content with being distracted. Chris-Chan no doubt has the same issue, but he's not aware of it.

Now at what point did any of his trolls do beside coerce him to drink his own semen and give up his medallion in exchange for supposedly social acceptance. At what point did they ever realize that his nature of blowing things off and going against his word were him scrambling for what he wants and what he wants can be levied as "it's nice to have that but it's not the end-all of things." At what point did someone socially adequate says "he needs a situation with immediate consequences on something he really wants and/or needs" and not just pin it down as permanent all because they didn't raise him.

The only things Chris-Chan will be remembered is mentally ill, drinking semen, and Julay. Not the toxic fucking advances that a perverted, ideological form of "you get what you see" brings about.

EvilHomer - 2014-12-29

That was a nice one, oddeye. Fedora tip to you, sir.

EvilHomer - 2014-12-30

Change is a very angry person, cliqueish, stupid, and cruel; a self-righteous internet bully who demands respect from others but never offers it in turn. Yet Change also seems to be lonely, to be hurting inside. That is sad. Like ChrisChan, Change needs help. She needs our patience, our love, and our forgiveness, not our scorn.

Although now that I think about it, the best possible outcome would be if Mr. Chandler joins the Nation of Islam.

I'm sure he would eventually depict Mohammed or Allah as Sonichu and get excommunicated/beheaded.

Especially now that the Nation of Islam is connected to the Church of Scientology via Farrakhan. That means we're one step closer to a Sonichu movie, produced by and starring John Travolta. It's the part he was born to play.

"And, I HAD tried the stuff on myself days before in the upstairs bathroom. A Two Second Spray onto my left wrist, some of it got onto the bath tub wall as well. Like sampling a perfume or deodorant. It Took Me Out damn well. I had to open the windows, turn on the bathroom fan AND aim the box fan into the bathroom to air the place out, and I wiped the wall off as well, and OF COURSE I washed my hands. It took fifteen to thirty minutes to make it bearable in there again."

Hahaha God Chris-Chan macing himself
