Any bets on how long before Fox takes it down?

jreid - 2015-02-02

If they had any sense in their damn heads they'd use it on the actual show.

Rodents of Unusual Size - 2015-02-02

The credits have become the only good part of the show.

I haven't watched the show in years but there's a couple things that bother me. I like the attention to detail where all the kids are on smartphones except for Nelson with his ball-cup, but since when did Apu work at whatever grocery store that's supposed to be?

Xenocide - 2015-02-02

Oh, Zest, cartoons don't have to be 100% realistic!

(A second Xenocide walks by in the background.)

It's because the New Simpsons design philosophy is to jam as many references as possible into the intro sequence. Apu is a Popular Character who needs screen time; Grocery Store Bagging Guy is not, and does not.

If you haven't seen any New Simpsons, IZ, here is a side-by-side comparison of intros both old and new, to help illustrate this principle at work:

Yeah I understand adding new characters and little "in-jokes" (which aren't really that "in the know" and definitely aren't funny); I think they started adding secondary characters around the season 6 intros actually, but it might have been later or earlier. Weird how in that video everything's slightly ahead or behind, except for the car horn.

Great freeze-frame potential in this one (of course Poochie and Roy would hang out together.)

Even if you don't feel like sitting through yet another remake of the Simpsons intro, be sure to watch the whole couch gag.

Speaking of Robertson, I was catching something on Adult Swim out of the corner of my eye and noticed some really cool pixel art. I knew it looked familiar. Between Cyriak and Robertson, Adult Swim's little bumps are cooler than most of the current content.

Good of them to stick to the original intro, too, and ignoring all of the stupid accumulation-of-in-jokes that were added when they went HD.

cognitivedissonance - 2015-02-02

Why didn't they use the actual opening credits from actual Capcom game?

Bort - 2015-02-02

Five for the ghost of Grimey at 0:25.

infinite zest - 2015-02-02

Ha I missed that completely. I thought it was like an Angel Smithers or something, which made no sense because Smithers is right there.

fluffy - 2015-02-02

Ah, yeah, I thought Angel Smithers made no sense too.

poopy - 2015-02-04

I agree with Mrs. Krabappel, "pixel art" is not real art.
