He seems like an asshole but he also has one of the best practical EE channels on Youtube, so I've learned to tolerate it.

I've worked with guys like this in tech. They're brilliant but are near toxic with their derision towards everything, making being around them for any length of time exhausting.

Yeah, I feel like everyone I've known who worked in tech was constantly stressed out because the majority of their coworkers were like this to some degree. One mechanical engineer I knew once said (more or less verbatim) "almost everyone in this industry are deep into either far-right, Randian political ideas or Christian fundamentalism, because the deterministic, rule based way of seeing the world that makes you a good mechanical engineer also makes you tend toward deterministic, rule based views of he world." (They would probably argue hard against it, but Objectivism is for all intents and purposes a secular, individualist mutation of Calvinism).

But I wouldn't have been able to successfully build an 8 voice analog polysynth without the stuff I learned on this guy's channel about surface mount work, so I'm glad he does what he does.

But yeah, he seems like a huge asshole. AND Australian.

I just can't stand the repetition and endless fluff, wowee! It's too bad there is actual good information embedded in the morass. I've forced myself to tolerate him for a few videos on topics I really cared about.

These engineers need to learn some quantum mechanics to loosen up their philosophy.
