Yes.

Lef - 2023-03-25

Please add Tony Blair.

I second Binro's choice for Cheney. That bionic heart needs to have it's power pulled and live streamed.

Quad9Damage - 2023-03-24

No. The damage is beyond done, and at best he was an impressionable manboy surrounded by monsters he appointed to make the decisions for him. Just...let him go. We've got enough problems already.

Cena_mark - 2023-03-24

You can't let him off like he was child. Yes, he was a nepobaby out of his depth in that level of politics, but he wanted that war, and he wanted it badly enough to lie to his nation and the UN to get it. He enjoyed the political pop he got from it and loved to relish in military cosplay and photo ops. He abused our fear and anger over 9/11 to make it happen.

Anaxagoras - 2023-03-24

He should be tried, yes, but it's not worth spending the political capital to do so.

Crackersmack - 2023-03-25

prosecuting GWB would infuriate more MSNBC libs than neocons at this point

teethsalad - 2023-03-25

oh boy, another round of idpol madlibs with everyone's favorite retard

Crackersmack - 2023-03-26

you're one of the libs longing for the 'respectable' Bush republicans to replace the Trumpers

cognitivedissonance - 2023-03-24

Anybody over $200,000 a year should be straight up executed and their ashes strewn to the four winds, but yeah, let’s pick a safely non-consequential figurehead.

John Holmes Motherfucker - 2023-03-24

Well, I'm shocked! Who knew that drinking warm water would shrink my prostrate overnight?

Binro the Heretic - 2023-03-24

Quite possibly the only instance in history where the answer to a rhetorical headline is, "Yes."

Cheney, too. Otherwise, he'll acquire and spend every resource on the planet to keep that snarling bald head of his alive.

SolRo - 2023-03-25

Two votes for “no” so far.

It’s just not politically expedient to hold someone accountable for the deaths of a quarter million people I guess.

Cena_mark - 2023-03-25

The tragedy of the war goes further than Iraq. The rise of ISIS, Iran's rising aggression, and the crisis in Syria can all be tied to it. Future terror attacks and wars have come out of it. The US invaded two nations bordering Iran, and then we wonder why they're so paranoid.

Binro the Heretic - 2023-03-25

I'm not saying "Dubya" could be tried for war crimes.

I'm saying he should be.

glasseye - 2023-03-25

Every living former and current president, VP, and member of cabinet should be tried for war crimes.

Binro the Heretic - 2023-03-25

Amen.

Nominal - 2023-03-25

2000 is the year they should have broke with the tradition of nominating the vice president, not 2016.

jfcaron_ca - 2023-03-25

I had a friend in Italy who promoted the idea of automatic trial for any prior Prime Minister ~5 years after they leave office. The delay is to allow for medium-term implications of their term to manifest themselves, and for investigations to finish. The implied charge is corruption and incompetence, and they have to defend themselves to avoid prison.

Cena_mark - 2023-03-25

Mussolini didn't get 5 years to develop a defense

Nominal - 2023-03-26

"Don't leave me hanging!"

Mister Yuck - 2023-03-28

I don't think Bush should be on trial. I think trials are usually more about legalistic bullshit than justice. They give the power to determine and administer justice to powerful people in the same general class as politicians like Bush. I think we should democratize justice by putting his entire administration, and everyone in Congress who voted for the war, and every op-Ed writer who promoted it, in stockades in public squares in Iraq. There justice could be administered democratically, on a first-come basis. Then we should give the entire budget of the military to the government of Iraq for a few years as reparations. It'd be a start anyways.
