It is one of my biggest frustrations in English that there is no appropriate term for this. In Spanish we have "pena ajena", which roughly translates into "shame not of oneself" or "impersonal shame", as "pena" = "shame" and "ajeno(a)" = "not having to do with the subject (of the sentence)".
