5 for Bach, -5 for being a bad midi rendition with animation that adds nothing to the experience. +4 because I like bad CGI and midi.

Years of music theory takes the magic out of how this is done.
It really isn't that complicated.

|
dgraham - 2009-09-14 I don't think anyone claimed it was particularly difficult did they?
And I'm pretty sure it doesn't take years of music theory to play notes backwards, especially on a computer... Or two play two tracks and super-impose them. Or... anything.
It's something that is not very technically difficult, but that maybe wouldn't occur to most people to try.
For me, the interesting thing is that all subsequent renditions sounded a lot better than the original.

I think the music animation machine is better. I think someone posted some from there last year or something.

TeenerTot - 2009-09-14 Huh. I thought it was "Gödel, Escher, Bach". but what do I know.
|
Toenails - 2009-09-14 @Teener
It can be either way. Just like how the eszett (Ã) can be written as "ss", vowels with umlauts can be written with standard characters if it's not possible to incorporate them or the writer is lazy (this is why I did it).

Toenails - 2009-09-14 Oh shit.
I just now realized my spelling mistake. lol.

Obviously I meant the American figure skater, the artist, and the musician.

The entire story (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Musical_Offering) is pretty cool, particularly this: "Bach inscribed the piece "Regis Iussu Cantio Et Reliqua Canonica Arte Resoluta" (the theme given by the king, with additions, resolved in the canonic style), the first letters of which spell out the word ricercar (an older name for fugue)."
