Humans are just humans. They come into this life filled with dreams and aspirations and vomit.

My purpose is to learn about duckers, and their duckjitsu.

I have bruises all over my body, because I had to fight naked.

This thing actually makes more sense in this chopped up format.

The dinosaurs use bow and arrows? Awesome, man.

Dr. Lobotomy - 2011-01-15

So is this thing some sort of shitty rip-off of that 8-bit NES game Astyanax?

MacGyver Style Bomb - 2011-01-16

Surprising lack of profanity for such an older dub.

Whenever I have to tell a young nerd what we old nerds LIKED about anime, it was the bad dubbing and kinky sex, and they're all like "ZOMG YOU LIKE DUBBED ANIME?" and run away and cut themselves to whatever the kids cut themselves to these days.

Ah, Garzey's Wing... there's nothing quite like it is there?

The subtitled clips I've seen of this are mildly hokey but not all that bad, to really mess things up it took this dub. Notice the ugly, splotchy colors around the lines, like when the kid is laying in bed? That's called rainbowing, it's a good indication the video engineer (if there even was one) sent a digital signal over an analog line, a big no-no. I swear it sounds like the director hired a high school, drama club to do the voice acting, the cast was chosen at random and everything was recorded in one take, without rehearsal. Since they didn't have the original sound track a lot of the sound effects and some of the music was lost in the process.

The writer of Anime News Network's Buried Treasures column would occasionally get bored and switch to Buried Garbage. This was one of those times.

The Chris actor did a fair job with those 16 syllable Japanese names, though.

The wikipedia page for this thing is great:

The leader of the slaves, who is represented through a bearded old man, follows a strict belief that "humans are just human", which can also be understood as the moral of this tale in Byston Well. Chris is only human so he can only act as human through his human nature to protect human kind. Although it may seem to be a deep concept to grasp, the idea can easily understood after a thorough analysis of the anime.
