I've thought about that myself. The conclusion I came to is they were going for as much authenticity as possible and it never occurred to them that anyone would actually break into the cases and USE the firearms. That's a problem with enlightened societies. They usually fuck up the little things.

Why doesn't he get fined one credit for violation of the verbal morality statute when he says "dman, I'm pretty good at this" when he finds out he is good at computer shit? And why was Sandra Bullock in this movie?
This was an OK movie for being the typical 90s, sci-fi actioneer, but I will never get over the joke of futuristic Taco Bells being turned into "fine dining establishments" and now, here we are in the future, and Taco Bell is trying to turn all their locations into "bistro" places.
